Gentle work. Deep calm.

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Your body holds a great deal: the busyness, the worry, the sadness, the things you haven't had time to feel. In a one-on-one Jin Shin Jyutsu session, you get to lie down, be quiet and let some of it go.

I'm Amy, a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner in Auckland. I work gently and without force, supporting your body's own energy to flow more freely so you can rest, restore and feel more like yourself.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a gentle Japanese practice that works with the body's energy. It was revived in Japan by Jiro Murai in the early twentieth century and later shared with the West by Mary Burmeister.

The practice is based on 26 "safety energy locks," specific points along the body where energy can become held or stuck, through stress, tension, emotion or the demands of daily life. By resting my hands lightly on combinations of these points (called "holds"), I help support the natural flow of energy through the body.

There is no force, no manipulation and no pressure. You stay fully clothed, and most people describe the experience as deeply relaxing.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a complementary practice. It works alongside medical care and does not replace it.

What a session is like

Before. We begin with a short conversation about how you're feeling, in your body and in your life, and what you'd like support with. You don't need to explain everything or have the right words.

During. You lie comfortably, fully clothed, on a treatment table while I do body reading, pulse listening and work through a series of gentle holds. It's quiet and unhurried. Many people notice warmth, stillness, a softening in the body or a feeling of settling. Some drift off to sleep. There's nothing you need to do or get right.

After. Take a moment to come back slowly. I'll often suggest a simple self-care practice or one of my filmed Jin Shin Jyutsu meditations so you can continue the work at home between sessions. Drink some water and be gentle with yourself for the rest of the day.

Sessions start at one hour and cost $120.

I'm a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner, a mum and a designer, and my work has always come back to one thing: helping people feel calm, cared for and at ease. I understand how much the body carries when you're looking after everyone else, and I bring that understanding into every session.

About your practitioner

Who I support

People come to me when they feel stretched thin, heavy, or simply in need of somewhere to put it all down. I work with women, mothers and children through many seasons of life, including:

  • Calming an overwhelmed nervous system: for when you feel constantly "on," wired or unable to switch off
  • Stress and tension: supporting the body to release what it has been holding
  • Sadness and grief: gentle support when emotional heaviness is sitting in the body
  • Women's wellbeing: supporting you through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and hormonal health
  • Postpartum wellbeing: care for new mums who are giving everything to everyone else
  • Children who learn differently: supporting calm, focus and ease for kids, including those with dyslexia
  • Everyday health and wellbeing: ongoing care to help you feel balanced and resourced

I don't diagnose or treat medical conditions. My work supports your overall health and wellbeing and sits alongside the care of your doctor or other health professionals.

Training, credentials & FAQs

Training and credentials: I been treating others for 7 years and have completed all Jin Shin Jyutsu seminars to become a practitioner, along with extra self-help study and fascia study.

I came to Jin Shin Jyutsu for stress and mental health management 11 years ago which then lead down the track of fertility support later on with very fast and successful results.

The combined of I use in my practice Jin Shin Jyutsu, Neolife, Aura Soma and Detoxing Footspas continue to amaze me with my clients positive results with their projects they are working on.

FAQs

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu? It's a gentle Japanese practice that uses light, fully clothed holds on specific points of the body, known as safety energy locks, to support the natural flow of energy. It's calming, non-invasive and suitable for most people, from babies through to older adults.

Does it hurt? No. Jin Shin Jyutsu is very gentle, with light touch and no pressure or manipulation. You may feel movement, gurgling within the body. Most people find it deeply relaxing.

What should I wear? Wear something comfortable that you can relax in. You stay fully clothed throughout, and you don't need to remove anything except your shoes.

How many sessions will I need? It varies. Some people feel a noticeable sense of calm after one session, while others prefer a short series or regular ongoing sessions. We'll talk about what feels right for you, and there's never any pressure to commit to a set number.

Can children have sessions? Yes. Children often respond well to Jin Shin Jyutsu's gentle, quiet approach. Sessions for children are generally only 30 minutes as I adapt it to their age and comfort, and a parent or caregiver is welcome to stay. Please get in touch first to talk about what you're hoping to support.

Do I need to stop my other treatments or medication? No. Jin Shin Jyutsu works alongside your existing care. Please continue to see your doctor or health professional as needed, and don't change any medication.
